Peter D. Beltz
Of Counsel

Peter D. Beltz earned his Juris Doctor from Michigan State University College of Law, where he graduated Cum Laude and served as the Managing Editor for the Journal of Animal and Natural Resource Law. He also received a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology of Law, Criminology and Deviance with a minor in Family Violence Prevention from the University of Minnesota. He is licensed to practice in all state courts in Michigan

Following law school, Peter's legal career began in Michigan at one of the largest and most recognized demolition companies in the United States, where he spent his first years in practice providing counsel on a variety of legal and regulatory compliance issues relating to occupational safety and health, contracting, human resource, and other business law matters.  In his first years of practice, Peter gained invaluable insight into what goes into the operation of a successful business and significant experience in complying with OSHA and MIOSHA regulations.  Spending a significant amount of time building, managing, and maintaining the demolition company’s health and safety program, Peter earned his Associate Safety Professional (ASP) certification through the Board of Certified Safety Professionals.  Peter’s experience also includes drafting and reviewing contracts, including contracts with local and federal government entities.

Although Peter’s legal career has taken a less traditional path, Peter’s business background provides him with a uniquely qualified and experienced perspective when approaching complicated legal and regulatory issues.  Peter prides himself in being able to advise small business clients on an applicable regulation and providing proven tactics for properly implementing plans and procedures that will help small businesses ensure they are complying with the applicable regulation. From understanding to implementation, Peter provides small business clients with the tools and knowledge for all their legal needs.

Peter frequently participates in continuing legal education in order to keep himself updated as to the most current laws, areas of expertise, and court rulings that might affect his clients.  Peter’s professional memberships have included the Administrative and Regulatory Law Section, Business Law Section, Criminal Law Section, Labor and Employment Law Section, Probate and Estate Planning Section, and the Workers’ Compensation Law Section of the State Bar of Michigan.  In addition, Peter has received a certificate in Closely Held Business Entity Formation issued by the Institute of Continuing Legal Education.
